How Your Salary is Calculated
To break down an annual salary into smaller pay periods, we use standard American employment assumptions: 40 hours per week, 5 work days per week, and 52 weeks per year.
- Monthly: Annual Salary ÷ 12
- Bi-Weekly (Every 2 weeks): Annual Salary ÷ 26
- Weekly: Annual Salary ÷ 52
- Daily: Annual Salary ÷ 260 (5 days × 52 weeks)
- Hourly: Annual Salary ÷ 2,080 (40 hours × 52 weeks)

If you earn $60,000 per year:
Monthly: $60,000 ÷ 12 = $5,000
Bi-Weekly: $60,000 ÷ 26 = $2,307.69
Hourly: $60,000 ÷ 2,080 = $28.85
